Tunnels & Trolls Adventures - 1.1.53

Thank you for supporting us at launch! We've loved hearing your support and feedback over the past few weeks. Please continue to send us feedback at support@metaarcade.com so we can continue to make this game even better!

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug where characters were getting their stats messed up after pausing and resuming an adventure, and occasionally after starting a brand new one. If you ended up with super strong characters, or characters with negative Constitution this was the cause.
  • Fixed various text errors: misspellings, grammar, clipped text, etc... English is hard.
  • Fixed ambient sounds ending prematurely during an adventure.
  • Fixed the bug where the game may get stuck on 'Downloading Updates'.
  • A lot of fixes behind the scenes to clean things up and increase performance.

Known Issues

  • Initial download of new content can take a long time, especially on slower connections. We're looking to improve performance in this regard soon!
  • On iOS, the Ring/Silent switch will mute the game completely.

For further information, check out our launch dev blog. More adventures will be released on a regular basis, so stay tuned for the news on the next one!

  • The stark look of the Sneak Peek prototype has been replaced with a brand new user interface to adapt the classic solo RPG adventure experience to mobile devices, while preserving the look and feel of the originals.
  • New monetization system allows everyone to play the Tunnels & Trolls adventures for free by watching ads, or purchase them once and play forever. More information is available in the following dev blog

Known Issues

  • Initial download of new content can take a long time, especially on slower connections. We're looking to fix this soon!
  • Infrequently, the game may get stuck on 'Downloading updates' on first launch, or after downloading an adventure. Restarting the game will often resolve this issue.
  • In some adventures, text may overlap with action buttons. These issues will be fixed in a future update.
  • In some adventures, the button response area is smaller than the button image displayed on the screen. As a workaround, tap in the center of the button.
  • Occasionally (especially after completing an adventure), the game may become non-responsive to button taps. Waiting 10-15 seconds will often fix this issue.
  • On iOS, the Ring/Silent switch will mute the game completely.

At the minimum, the game requires an iPhone 5s, iPad Mini 2, or a comparable Android device to run. Older devices are not supported, and may cause app crashes or unpredictable behaviour.

If you experience any other issues, please contact us at support@metaarcade.com.

Sneak Peek 4

Sneak Peek 4 is now available! However, this will be the last Sneak Peek build we will have out before we release on the Apple App Store and Google Play! Exciting stuff, eh? Stay tuned by connecting with us at www.metaarcade.com!

Changes:

  • Since this is the last Sneak Peek build, we’ve unlocked adventures so that you can play your characters through them as MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT.
  • There was a wandering monster in Buffalo Castle and in the PAX Day 1 MegaAdventure with an old orc image that now has a picture of a new scary orc, a brand new illustration from the lovely and talented Liz Danforth!

Known Issues:

  • Buffalo Castle Map Crash Bug - Pausing the game while accessing the map of Buffalo Castle may cause the game to spontaneously crash, causing loss of progress within the adventure. Please avoid doing this until we are able to determine the cause and implement a fix.

And for those that are new, here’s the recommended adventure path to optimize your fun with a new Character.

  1. Buffalo Castle
  2. PAX South MegaAdventure Day 1
  3. PAX South MegaAdventure Day 2
  4. Naked Doom
  5. PAX South MegaAdventure Day 3

Sneak Peek 3.1

Patch Notes for Sneak Peek 3.1
• Major Update: balancing the PAX South MegaAdventure
o Lots of tuning to mitigate the very un-fun experience of “unending combats,” where your character wasn’t tough enough to beat the opposing monster but the monster couldn’t punch through your armor. The specific changes involved include:
• Changed the armor you receive at the start of each adventure. For Day 1, you’ll only get the Target Shield. In Day 2 and 3, you’ll get a few pieces of Leather Armor to help ward off combat damage. This will make your choice to use two weapons or sword and shield more impactful.
• Switched out monsters to ensure we had lower difficulty combats in Day 1, scaling up to some very tough ones in Day 3. This helps to mitigate having a character who can’t defeat a typical monster but still can’t lose in combat—with the goal of eliminating the chance for “unending combats.”
• Similarly, we updated the saving roll difficulties in each adventure to be a bit more even across the board. You’ll principally make Level 1 saving rolls in Day 1. Saving rolls start creeping up to Level 2 in Day 2 and there are several Level 3 rolls in Day 3. You can probably get through Day 1 with new characters barring bad luck on your saving rolls, but as you progress, you’ll want to spend Adventure Points to level up your attributes to make sure you can get through some of those Level 3 rolls in Day 3.
o Recommended adventure path: if you’re starting a new character, you’ll likely find it more enjoyable and appropriately challenging if you proceed through the adventures as follows:
1. Buffalo Castle
2. PAX South MegaAdventure Day 1
3. PAX South MegaAdventure Day 2
4. Naked Doom
5. PAX South MegaAdventure Day 3

That said, you can certainly play through them all in any order you like!
• Keep in mind completing Naked Doom earlier will probably make the adventures you play afterwards easier as you stand to earn a lot of Adventure Points and can increase your attributes substantially in the Sword Room and the Pool of Greatness.
• Trying Day 3 of the PAX South MegaAdventure with a new character will likely result in many deaths. There are some hard saving rolls and a few very tough monsters there. You have been warned!

Sneak Peek 3

Major Updates

  • The PAX South MegaAdventure!
    • Play through all 3 days of the PAX South MegaAdventure, created live on the show floor of the event with help from fans like you! If you helped us craft the MegaAdventure during the show and put your name in the adventure, you’ll find it there in all its well-deserved glory.
  • Be sure to bring your more veteran adventurers when delving into these adventures as some of the monsters and saving rolls are quite demanding!
  • Characters will earn loot and Adventure Points in the MegaAdventure, be sure to spend your Adventure Points to improve your stats!
  • Colored art for Buffalo Castle
  • In Sneak Peek 2, we introduced Buffalo Castle, the first solo adventure ever written for any game, sporting brand new art from the legendary Liz Danforth. In this update, we’ve brought on the mighty Steve Crompton to digitally color much of Liz’s new art. We’ve also color coded the corridors on different sides of the castle to help you orient yourself.

Minor Updates
• We’ve introduced a tweak to the dice to speed up the resolution process—let us know what you think.
• We’ve also reduced the interactive space for the character stat bar at bottom of screen to lessen the potential of clicking it by accident when you’re trying to click one of the options in a room. Please give us your feedback on this as well.
• Multiple fixes to improve memory usage and overall performance.

Known Issues
• Buffalo Castle Map Crash Bug
o Pausing the game while accessing the map of Buffalo Castle may cause the game to spontaneously crash, causing loss of progress within the adventure. Please avoid doing this until we are able to determine the cause and implement a fix.
• Buffalo Castle colored art issue
o We’ve noticed in playtesting that sometimes the colored art of Buffalo Castle is replaced by the original black and white illustration when you revisit a room you’ve already been to, or after a combat or saving roll occurs and the room is reloaded. We’re aware of this and intend to fix it in our next update.
• Random Crash during extended playthroughs
o During playtesting, we’ve found an occasional crash which happens if you play for a long period of time. In these cases, we’ve seen you are able to restart the app and continue your adventure from where you left off. We are troubleshooting this actively, so if you notice any patterns, please let us know.
• Inventory
o Much like Sneak Peek 2, inventory is still not persistent and is cashed out for loot at the end of each adventure.
o The inventory screen has not been optimized yet. Manage your inventory aggressively, otherwise it looks like it was organized by a goblin and becomes somewhat unsightly.
